Do you know who the primary customer of your recruiting efforts is? Because every candidate is a potential customer, and, in a “Yelp” world, everyone is always rating you. Deliver a 5-star candidate experience by leveraging the advice that Christina McClung of Capital One discloses in the following clip.
- Take the needs of your potential hires into account, e.g., don’t reschedule them three times based on the hiring manager’s schedule; let your actions reflect a candidate-first mindset.
- Consider the EQ of candidates, and work backwards from this to solve the experience problem.
- Enable your non-hires to come away from the process with a perception of fairness, feeling that they had least had the opportunity to “step up to bat” even if they didn’t get the job.
