Reverse mentoring can happen when you least expect it. Ever had a 16-year old show you how to tweet, or a first grader teach you how to download the latest app on your Apple device? You were just (unknowingly, perhaps) “reverse mentored.”
Reverse mentoring provides benefits to the mentor, as well as the mentee. Younger employees are given exposure to senior management that otherwise they may not have had. Conversely, top level executives report being “energized” and “awakened” by the new perspective they gain from their younger colleagues.
