Historically, HR’s mission has been minding the people, while business leaders’ mission has been minding the shop. “But the two are inextricably linked,” says Ian Cook. “The distinction between people and the business is false. People are the business.”.
The People Impact Gap exists due to a fundamental mismatch in how HR thinks about the technology it requires and the potential the business could receive from that technology. It is the gap between the crucial answers that people managers need and the raw data that is contained within the people systems of record.
